At SOCR we’re committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Policy explains when and why we collect personal information about people who visit our website, how we use it, the conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.
We may change this Policy from time to time so please check this page occasionally to ensure that you’re happy with any changes. By using our website, you’re agreeing to be bound by this Policy.

Who are we?
The Save Our Children’s Rights Campaign, is a collaborative of a number of organisations and groups. Our remit is to work together to campaign for the protection of the rights of children and young people with special educational rights and disabilities in England.
We are all remote volunteer workers, so do not have a specific mailing address. If you wish to mail something to us, please get in touch via the email address.
How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information about you when you use our website, for example, when you contact us, or to make a donation, or if you register for our mailing list. You control the information you provide but we do require a valid email address to deliver any services you wish to sign up for.
If you contact us via a form, your information is securely held on our private Google Drive in a secure spreadsheet, accessible only by relevant members of our central team. Data no longer in use, such as expired giveaways and competitions, is deleted.
What type of information is collected from you?
When you visit our site, we collect tracking information such as IP address, duration of your visit, browser, location and pages visited. To do this, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which provide web analytics for millions of websites. This information is anonymous and does not identify you individually or collect any email addresses. You can read their privacy policy here. Our server at SiteGround is based in the EU and collects raw, but limited, non-identifiable data
We use this data to monitor our readership numbers and to understand which are our most popular pages to help us improve the information we produce and your user experience. The personal information we collect does not include your name, email address, IP address, or information regarding what pages are accessed and when.
How is your information used?
We may use your information to:
- process a donation that you have made;
- seek your views or comments on the services we provide;
- notify you of changes to our services;
- send you communications telling you about a new post on our site
- run occasional giveaways or competitions
We will hold your name, as provided, and email address on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or, for post alerts, for as long as you subscribe to the site. You can unsubscribe at any time from the post alert emails we occasionally send you.
Your account data is used only for the purposes of operating our website and providing services to you. It may also be part of information automatically processed while maintaining the security of the site. This includes database backups and website security scanning.
If you enter a giveaway or competition, we explain on the entry page how your data will be used in that instance and give you the option to sign up to our mailing list and possibly to that of our competition partners. If you choose not to opt in to mailing lists, and you do not win, your data is deleted immediately after the end of the competition. The winner’s data is used to contact them to enable them to receive their prize.
Who can access your information?
We will never sell, rent or share your information with any third party for their marketing purposes.
We may transfer your personal information to a third party if we’re under a duty to disclose or share your personal data to comply with any legal obligation or to enforce or apply our terms of use or to protect the rights, property or safety of our supporters and customers. However, we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected.
Your rights & choices
You have a choice about whether or not you wish to receive information from us. If you do not want to receive information then you can safely unsubscribe from the unsubscribe link in the email that you receive.
We will not contact you for marketing purposes by email, phone or text message unless you have given your prior consent.
The accuracy of your information is important to us. If you change email address, or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please email us.
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information SOCR holds about you. We may charge £20 for information requests to cover our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you. You must first supply evidence of your identity such as a photocopy of your passport certified by a solicitor or bank plus an original copy of a utility bill showing your current address so we know you are who you say you are. However, we may withhold personal information that you request to the extent permitted by law.
Security precautions to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of your information
When you give us personal information, we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Your email address is held securely by our email alert processor, Jetpack and we use up-to-date security software to protect our website.
Email addresses, when we send post alerts, are transmitted normally over the Internet, and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. Where we have given (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you to ensure your password is secure and you do not to share your password with anyone.
Use of ‘cookies’
Like many other websites, the SOCR website uses cookies. ‘Cookies’ are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that website to recognise you when you visit. They collect statistical data about your browsing actions and patterns and do not identify you as an individual. It is possible to switch off cookies by setting your browser preferences. Our website may contain external links to other websites run by other organisations, including our member organisations. Our privacy policy applies only to our website‚ so please read the policies on the other websites you visit if you are concerned. Other websites’ practices are not our responsibility, although we do strive to only link to reputable sites that offer useful information.
In addition, if you arrived at our website from another site, we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of the owners and operators of that third-party site and we recommend that you check their own policy.

Google Captcha
This site is protected by reCAPTCHA, and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. We use Captcha on our contact forms to protect us from receiving spam submissions.
Information transferred outside of Europe
As part of the services offered to you through this website, the information which you provide to us may be transferred to countries outside the European Union (“EU”). Our server at SiteGround is located within the EU and abide by EU rules for data transfer, storing and processing.
If you use our services while you are outside the EU, your information may be transferred outside the EU in order to provide you with those services.
